Programs and activities

Arts Education:

The exploration of forms, lines, space and colours first begins with activities of painting and drawing. Children also cultivate their creativity, this sense of delight also strengthens their abilities to shine in other school disciplines.

Global Motricity:

Running, crawling, jumping, rolling, sliding, climbing, etc. Physical activities and experiences contribute to the motor development, sensorial, emotional and intellectual development of the child. This is raising an opportunity to explore, to self express and to act in familiar environments. So children develop their abilities to move, train and build an image oriented on their own body. The game, the motricity game in particular, is an essential moment of the child development. At the same time playful and educational, the child is going to grow through the game. He/she blooms, communicates with the others and learns. It is the engine of the development!

Fine Motricity:

It develops all senses and in particular: the hand abilities, the first tool of the human being. The fine motricity, the occult-manual coordination and the sense of touch. It allows to discover materials: knowledge or recognition of various materials following their characteristics (malleability, roughness) and their various possibilities (the new know-how). It helps to develop the creativity and the possibilities of expression, to live an initiative of experimenting. The activities of fine motricity help to develop possibilities of adaptation of the child, to find solutions, thus to learn to argue and beyond, to acquire scientific concepts. It allows to develop interrelations, cooperation (socialization) and so helps the child to discover itself compared to others and the outside world.

Reading is one of the most pleasant activities that educators and even parents can start with children. It reveals the kids development and, if done on regular basis, it facilitates their language acquisition, it allows them to learn to listen and prepares them to recognize the written words. It is also an opportunity occasion to experience joy in a restful, funny and satisfactory way on the emotional plan.

Relaxation, listening, motor coordination are acquired among other things through musical awakening. Sounds awakening and music contribute in intellectual skills, language, social and emotional developments. A child stimulated by music during early childhood, will have an easier time adapting to its environment when starting school, because he/she is used to listen, focus and being curious.

Pedagogy at Le Berceau enchanté

Between welcoming the early childhood and the Montessori pedagogy, we look for the points where the best principles join.

Favour self-confidence, autonomy, while allowing the child to evolve at its own rhythm and freely. Such are the promises of both pedagogies.

" The child is not a vase which we fill, but a spring that we let flow. "

The concept is to put at the disposal of the children an adapted tool and essentially let them free to choose activities they wish to perform on their own schedule. It was proved that the toddlers (starting at three year-old), can show focus and unexpected self-discipline. Since the child is in a convenient environment, accompanied by an educator who adapts to him/her and stimulates him/her, the child learns by itself, at its pace.

It is a fundamental notion of the Montessori pedagogy. In the classroom, children are free to choose the activity they wish among the ones proposed to them, on the only condition to have already "seen" this activity with the educator, and can spend as much time they want to. They also have the right to speak (in a low voice) and to move as they wish in the classroom, as long as the working atmosphere is respected.

It goes hand in hand with the notion of freedom and applies just as much for behaviour than for corrections. Rather than to wait passively for the corrections of a third, the child is invited to spot himself his mistakes. Especially as, according to the Montessori method, it is not so much a question of being "right" or "wrong" that to practice doing better, practicing the activity.

Action in periphery:

According to the Montessori pedagogy, it is more profitable to act on the child's environment rather than on him/her-self. For example, we can start to speak lower and have the child to act the same, rather than to order to him(her). Or rather than asking to clean up or to fetch his/her shoes, we can present the storage furniture.

Respect for the rhythm of every child:

No matter if the child is fast or slow, as long as he/she is able to focus, what matters is to respect the rhythm of every child. You should not put labels on the children (" you are slow ", " you are fast "), at the risk of locking them into this qualifier. So, the rhythm of each one can vary according to the moment, the activity and its development.

Apprenticeship sets by experiencing, by playing:

The abstraction is not passed on, such is the idea behind the Montessori fundamentals. To get the concepts, the child has to experience in a tangible and concrete way, with its five senses. Again, this is only working when using proper material. For example, using pearls to experiment the unit, the dozen, the hundreds etc. Children can feel the weight, compare them, and learn by sight and touch their differences or proportions.

Individual activity:

If some activities are presented in small groups, others, are rather made individually, so that the children get the concepts in a personal way.

Education, the help for life:

A child is potentially good. All you need to do is showing some respect to keep it that way. Showing respect is to invite him/her to respect others, and then, to prepare him/her for a harmonious social life. The purpose of the Montessori education principles is to help the child acquire a personal discipline.

The purpose of the initiation into English is to develop the child's ear in a second language with experimental workshops and in a playful way (with songs, puppets, friends' circle, acting, instructions and dialogue) …
